Is very important to sit at a PC safely and comfortably. We sit at a PC for several hours a day and a poorly setup station will cause you issues with your back, neck, wrists that could become of major concern. BrightCity engineers will setup your work stations with this in mind. Make sure you desk and chair position are adequate to look after your safety.
If you are an employer, then it would be prudent to issue and display this procedure for your staff to follow, as this should stop or reduce sickness issues resulting from bad posture.
HOLD your head immediately over the shoulders, not hunching or leaning forward, but squarely above.
CHAIR should be tilted to 15 degrees (approx) and this will induce a natural curve in your spine.
SEAT height and angle should be setup so that your hips are 4-6 inches higher than your knees.
PC SCREEN should be set at eye level and facing you, so that there is no rotation of your head.
WORK SURFACE must be setup so that your elbows are at your sides, forearms parallel to the floor/desk. Your shoulders should be relaxed and wrists kept in a neutral position.
KEYBOARD placed flat on the desk. Material you are copy typing should be on a stand next to your screen.
BREAKS should be taken often (1 minute every 30 minutes for example). Get up, move around.
