The HP 530 notebook is fantastic value for a notebook. Our engineers have just upgraded to this notebook. The key facts regarding the HP 530 Notebook are these:
High Power Processor - Core Duo T2250. Don't bother with the Celeron version of the HP 530 Notebook, you will know where the extra £30 or so goes when you buy this HP 530 with the Core Duo.
Wide Screen - lightweight widescreen 15.4" with excellent clarity
Windows Vista Operating System - Home edition, so don't purchase this 530 notebook if you want it to join a domain (home users and most remote users do not need this functionality). BCL engineers use the 530 to VPN into the office to transfer files and update Outlook - the Vista Home works fine with this.
The 530 Notebook comes with a DVD writer. Alot of notebooks of this price range still have the old DVD Rom/Combo drive. Not this 530!
We do recommend upgrading the memory from 512mb to 1024mb. Vista is memory hungry and the HP 530 notebook does enjoy it's ram expanded!
This 530 notebook is recommended to most users, and our engineers are quite heavy users. It is not suited to graphic designers, or architects wanting to carry out some modelling etc. There are others in the range suited to power users. But for sheer value, but with the hardware power, the Core Duo 530 Notebook acheives the BCL seal of approval.
